About My Holidays

I've been having fun in my holidays, and I've been playing with Danny's Thomas the Tank Engine set, our felt scenes, dolls and cubby houses. We've been using chalk to draw a town on the front porch cement and outside the back door, and when we're done drawing we play with our wooden vehicles - which are a train, a car, a bus and an aeroplane.
We drew a railroad, air strip, road and a few houses. I even drew flowers and trees! Can you see all those things in the picture?

I've been helping Mummy cook and clean and I'm learning to be a keeper at home. Sometimes I even clean the bathroom sink for Mummy by wiping it with a towel! I also vaccum and sweep and dry the dishes for Mummy (and with Cousin Jo when she stayed with us). We've been cooking donut muffins, cheesecake with Cousin Jo, helping with the chicken schnitzel. I made Honey and Oat Muffins all by myself the other week and we ate them fast because they were yummy. I think I'm big enough to cook by myself now.

Here I am cooking and doing dishes with Cousin Jo!

And here I am doing some craft with Mummy. I had a lot of fun doing it. It is called Pergamano, and it is a craft where you copy over a picture and then when you're done you turn it over and colour on the other side. Then you can prick holes in it if you want to.

I made a bookmark with Desert Roses on it. Later I put a pale yellow ribbon in the hole at the top. I use it my Holy Bible.
In Spring I collected old lavendar flowers and crushed them up. Then after that, in Summer, I made a lavendar bag to keep it in. I made the lavendar bag with Mummy's old sewing machine. This is the first time I've used a sewing machine. Firstly I practised doing straight stitches. Then I pinned and sewed the lavendar bag.

Then we folded the top of the bag and pinned it and put the sewing machine away. I had to hand-stitch it to finish it.

We put a pretty blue ribbon in the top to hold it so the lavendar doesn't fall out. This is how it looks:
Now I'm keeping it in my drawer with my clothes to make them smell nice.
In the holidays I've also been reading a book called "A Hive of Busy Bees" and it's about Don and Joyce who are children and they are visiting their Grandma and Grandpa in the summer when they notice a bee hive. Half of the chapters are about Grandma telling stories to Don and Joyce about being good children. Like one chapter is about "Bee Gentle" and another is "Bee Helpful". I am enjoying the book even though it doesn't have many pictures. I am reading it at Church meetings mostly.
What books have you been reading? And what have you been doing in the Summer?

My 6th Birthday

I had my birthday on 25th of July. It was fun!

I got some really fun presents, like a small doll-sized china teaset,

some writing paper, stickers, Dot-to-Dot book, some special pencils, a jigsaw,

and lego.

I also got a mini peg basket so I can hang doll's clothes when I'm playing,

and a spirograph set. I got some books to read, and a "Where's Wally?" book!

I got felt boards where you can make scenes with felt people and things they have.
I got an ABC cookbook that we have been cooking with in our cooking lessons. I really like cooking!
Grandad gave me a blue wagon to ride in the yard on!

I got a lot of money for my birthday and Mummy put some of it in the bank, the other part I spent on a rose cross-stitch.
I also got a Lincraft gift card, and I want to buy something with that soon. I got a summer patchwork skirt that I would like to wear in summer.
I got lots of cards too.

Mummy knows I like colouring lots, so she made a cake and put a drawing on it and crayon candles.
I liked my cake very much. Mummy made chocolate sauce to put on the cake instead of icing because that's my favourite way to eat cake!

My New Bedroom!

I got my own bedroom!

First mummy moved boxes out of the spare room. Kiddies helped mummy move some boxes. It was fun! Mummy undid the screws on my bed and moved my bed.

Now I have my own girls room!
My room isn't finished because mummy hasn't fixed everything, yet.

A few weeks ago,we decided to have a tea party.
First; we cleaned the whole house. Next; we got tea party things and the food.
We made shortbread, and sandwiches.
Then the ladies came.
They sat down at the table, and Mummy made tea and hot chocolate for all of us.
It was lots of fun! I like tea parties and I'd like to have another one someday.

Things I'm Reading About

I like reading Books, like: The Little Book of Knowledge, the Book about Life, and Science or fact books. In the Book of Knowledge I like to read How thing are made.

I learned how sheep's wool is sheared and then the wool is cleaned and spun into long threads called Yarn. Then the Yarn is coloured with dye in lots of different colours. After that it is rolled into balls and people buy it for knitting things.

I learned about silk. The silkworm makes a cocoon and turns into a moth. Some people make different things with the silk cocoons by pulling the threads apart on the cocoon. They can make it lots of different colours and make it into material.

I learned how you make plastic from crude oil. The oil is dug from the ground and take it somewhere and heat it take things from it to use to make plastic.

I learned how you make glass from sand. They put the sand in fire until it melts and it becomes runny glass. Then they put it in a machine to flatten it. It becomes hard glass like windows. To make a shape of glass like a jar, the runny glass gets put in a mold and air pushes the glass against the sides of the mold. Tongs pick up the jar and put it into a big oven called a lehr. This oven makes the glass stronger.

I learned how you make toothpaste. You get silica to polish your teeth,and sorbitol from plants to make it a paste, then get frothy stuff and put mint or other flavours in it. We need water to turn the mixture into a soft paste, and fluoride which helps stop your teeth getting ruined. All those things are mixed and put into tubes.

Things I Do At Home

It is fun to ride my Bike! My Bike has training-wheels. Sometimes I ride my Bike down the hill by myself... Papa pushes me or I stand next to my Bike & push it up the hill!! And I share my Bike with Danny. Danny has trouble riding the bike all the time because he is little.

What I like doing best in School is: English, Social Studies, Spelling and Literature. I write stories in English, and it is fun. I learn about lots of things about life in Social Studies, it is interesting. Spelling is easy. Literature is fun because I love reading.

I love stitching. I've been doing the hat on this picture. It is a half-cross-stitch.

Chooks and Farms

Here are some pictures of our chooks.

The rooster is called Pepper. We have 7 hens and 1 rooster. 4 of the hens are laying eggs for us to eat.

A few days ago, I saw a leaf that was a nice colour and when I got closer, I picked it off a tree.
Isn't it pretty?

When I get a farm I would like a horse, pig, sheep, cow, cat, dog, Apple tree, Banana tree, Leman tree. And I'll pick the fruit when they are ready. And I'll have a vegie Garden.

I do have a favourite animal I want on my farm. A horse!

The Lord is My Shepherd

My favourite song is The Lord is My Shepherd.

The Lord's my Shepherd, I'll not want;
He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; He leadeth me
The quiet waters by.

My soul He doth restore again;
And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
Even for His own name's sake.

Yea, though I walk in death's dark vale,
Yet will I fear no ill;
For Thou are with me, and Thy rod
And staff me comfort still.

My table Thou has furnished
In presence of my foes;
My head Thou does with oil anoint,
And my cup oververflows.

Goodness and mercy all my life
Shall surely follow me;
And in God's house forevermore
My dwelling place shall be.
This song is from the Psalms. I know the verses of Psalm 23 and can say them from my head. It's a beautiful Psalm. It tells me about God loving me and taking care of me. I like some more songs too.

Swimming in the Ocean (Part 2)

The next day, Emily and Timothy found a new friend. The new friend's name is Jenny.

Jenny is a starfish. Jenny is the shape of a real star, like in the night. Jenny is red and she lives near the bottom of the Ocean. Jenny doesn't swim like a fish, because she doesn't have fins.

Timothy and Emily played with Jenny in the Ocean with sand, kicking and throwing sand at each other until lunch.

Thank you for the comments, I love getting comments.
I am reading Milly-Molly-Mandy books still. Mummy reads Farmer Boy to us sometimes when we have tea. Farmer Boy is from America and it's from Little House on the Prairie.
The Bible is my favourite book, because it's God Word and it has amazing and fun stories in it. Sometimes I read it by myself and sometimes I read it to Danny or Mummy and Papa. My favourite story in the Bible is when Jesus was born. I love Jesus very much 'cause He died for me so my heart can be cleaned. Jesus cleans my heart because I did sins. Sins means badness. We can go to Heaven when our sins have been washed away. And I want to go to Heaven.

Swimming in the Ocean

Once upon a time there was a fish called Timothy. He lived in a stream. One day he went to see what was in the Ocean, and one of his friends was there! The friend's name was Emily.

Timothy said "Hello, Emily. How are you, today?"

"Hello, I'm fine. How are you?"

"I'm fine, too."

The two fish swam off to play. They played hide-and-seek until it got dark.

The End.

Mummy told me to write a story on a piece of paper at school time. Mummy told me to write the story about fish. So that's what I did. Mummy helped me spell Timothy 'cause I didn't know how to spell it. Then I drew a picture of the two fish.
